Praggnanandhaa triumphs at V Géza Hetényi Memorial 2023 with a 2833 performance
R Praggnanandhaa drew his final round game against Radoslaw Wojtaszek to win V Géza Hetényi Memorial 2023. The teenager finished a full point ahead a strong field having the average rating of 2669. He performed at 2833 and gained 17.3 Elo rating points at this event. His live rating is now 2707.3, making him currently the world no.31. When he breaks into top 30, it will be the first time India will have six players in world top 30. The boy is carrying all the momentum and great form heading towards the important FIDE World Cup 2023. Magnus Carlsen's inspirational words at the Tech Mahindra Global Chess League surely boosted Praggnanandhaa's confidence. Vishy Anand being on his side at WACA is a huge boost too. Praggnanandhaa is now World no.31
R Praggnanandhaa has maintained his world no.31 spot in the live ratings for the past few days. As the maestro, Vishy Anand mentioned, he would like to see Praggnanandhaa have 2700+ published rating in August rating list. Well, if the teenager does not play any more Classical rated games before the FIDE World Cup 2023 starts, that will come true which is highly likely.

Vishy Anand's congratulatory words on International Chess Day is certainly an icing on the cake for Praggnanandhaa

Praggnanandhaa tweeted on his triumph
The inaugural edition of V Géza Hetényi Tournament was organized by GM FT Attila Czebe at Danubius Hotel Astoria City Center in Budapest, Hungary from 11th to 18th July 2023. The time control was 90 minutes / 40 moves + 30 minutes for the rest of game + 30 seconds increment for each move.
